A van with cameras attached to it will be taking pictures of streets in Grand Forks and East Grand Forks this week, according to the cities’ Metropolitan Planning Organization.
The pictures taken will be analyzed to determine pavement conditions for roads in the cities, MPO Planner Teri Kouba said.
She added use of the van helps quantify the need for road repairs instead of just saying a road “looks bad.”
Pictures of the streets will be analyzed, and then the streets will be rated based on how much cracking there is in the pavement.
The information gathered by the van will be used by the cities to prioritize street repairs and budget future repair work.
The van should arrive in the next few days and wrap up its work by the end of the week.
