Two temporary bocce ball courts are ready for play in Grand Forks as of Tuesday.
The courts are located just east of the Greenway’s Seventh Avenue North entrance.
Residents are invited to play on the courts and provide feedback to the city through a survey. Use of the courts will be monitored by Greenway staff and will be reviewed by the Greenway Technical Committee at the end of the season.
The courts were brought forward by the Near North Neighborhood Association as a means of improving the neighborhood.Another proposal that would add two horseshoe pits to the Seventh Avenue entrance area also is under review.
A survey posted earlier this year asking for feedback on both projects showed a majority of respondents supported adding the activity areas to the Greenway — even if they didn’t regularly play bocce ball or horsehoes.
“Since there are no other bocce ball courts (that I am aware of) on the Greenway I think it would be a great addition for added diversification of recreational opportunities,” wrote one survey respondent.
