Grand Forks seeks more food vendors at events

Grand Forks could see more food vendors at its events with a new class of temporary food-service licenses that cost less.

Vendors with food stands or trailers now will have the option of getting licensed for $30 per day. Previously, the license with the shortest duration was for 14 days; it costs $95.

City Council member Bret Weber said he hopes this will encourage more vendors to come to Grand Forks events that typically last just a day or two.

Weber, former owner of a chain of pizza restaurants, said the new license also could attract more pedestrian traffic to areas such as downtown.
